Difficulty:
Novice

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar (plus extra for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Whisk or hand mixer

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour, salt, and finely chopped walnuts until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
  7. Allow the cookies to cool slightly, then roll them in powdered sugar while they’re still warm to create a “snowy” coating.
  8. Let the cookies cool completely and give them one final roll in powdered sugar for an extra snowy finish.
